![]() As it stands now, I am unable to go from the Surface to the desktop as I can't get past the credentials prompt. I'd suggest either turning off the passwordless feature to test or create a local user account on both PCs, add their name to all the permissions on the shared folders and use the username/password of those accounts to connect instead of your own. If both devices were behaving the same way I'd think this was just a gap in passwordless accounts that hasn't been resolved yet, but why is it working in one direction and not the other? On my desktop PC I can access the Surface device without any prompt for credentials. According to Jakkal, almost all of the company’s own employees now log into their corporate accounts. Both are accessed through my passwordless Microsoft account. Microsoft appears to be leading by example in its effort to pioneer a passwordless future. After you remove the password from your account, you can sign in with a variety of passwordless options like the Microsoft Authenticator app, Windows Hello, FIDO2 security keys or SMS/Email codes. I have a desktop PC and Surface Pro 3 both running Windows 11 Pro, latest public build as of yesterday. Turning on the 'Passwordless account' option completely removes your password from your account.
